Walengzi refers to the shells ofArca subcrenata,Arca granosaorArca inflatabelonging to the Arcidae family. Washed Walengzi is the raw form of Walengzi, and its application in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) differs from that of Calcined Walengzi.
Application of Washed Walengzi
Washed Walengzi has the effects of resolving phlegm, dissipating blood stasis, and softening hard lumps to dispel nodules. It tastes salty, has a neutral nature, and enters the Lung, Stomach, and Liver Meridians. It can soften hard lumps and dispel nodules, and help promote diuresis and resolve phlegm, which is effective for conditions such as phlegm accumulation and intractable phlegm that is difficult to expectorate.
In the treatment of goiter and phlegm nodules, it is often used in combination withSargassum(Haizao),Kelp(Kunbu), etc.
In the treatment of abdominal masses and phlegm nodular lesions caused by qi stagnation, blood stasis, and phlegm accumulation, it can be used in compatibility withSparganium Rhizome(Sanleng),Zedoary Rhizome(Ezhu),Soft-shelled Turtle Carapace(Biejia), etc.
